Audio Walk: Murmurations Walking Exploration

In the Spring of 2025, I was invited to create a piece for the podcast series ‘Audio Warbles’, as part of the project  ‘Murmurations: Nature, neurodivergence and creativity’.
You can access my ‘Murmurations Walking Exploration’ here, along with the full series of Audio Warbles.
Murmurations Walking Exploration — Invitation: This is a small exploration (around 15 mins), designed for you to do while you are out on a walk of your choice in nature. It might be a nice thing to do if you have brain-fog, feel discombobulated or disconnected, or just fancy exploring going for a walk in a slightly different way. Access the audio here.
Instruction: Don’t listen to the audio quite yet! Take this audio, headphones, pen and paper with you, and set off on a walk somewhere out in nature (a local park counts as nature too). Once you have started walking, press play and follow as many or as few of the invitations as you like.
Murmurations: Nature, neurodivergence and creativity is a project between University of the Creative Arts and Living Words, who lead on Normal? Festival of the Brain. The project took place in the woods in 2025 – with neurodivergent students and staff exploring Living Words’ ‘Listen Out Loud’ participatory methodology.
Audio Warbles are a DIY series of 4 sound experiences that invite you to engage in exploring connections between nature, neurodivergence and creativity . Featuring a walk, some words and a couple of conversations from across the project, you will hear from poet and performer Hannah Silva, artist Poppy Jackson, academic Keren MacLennan, Samantha Friedman and artist and academic Roanna Mitchell, plus fine art students and staff who took part in woodland workshops earlier this year.
